Watch for Brightmare in 5.0 Magazine's upcoming E85 Mustang Shootout Oct 08!

Meet Steve Shrader's BrightMare
This yellow '99 Mustang GT, nicknamed "BrightMare", was the car that started it all for the 7000 member Yellow Mustang Registry and now for our latest abnormal project: E85Mustangs.com .

After 16 months on E85 with a stock 2-valve modular engine that made 474 rwhp, we pulled the engine to rebuild it exclusively for E85! That means doing the unthinkable in boosted applications and RAISING compression ratio from 9.6:1 to 10.6:1 with the same small centrifugal blower and larger cams on a 4.6L modular. Ethanol loves compression and can more easily resist detonation with its 105 octane rating and cooler burning characteristics.

After 6 months of having 525 horses pounding the pavement on the forged engine, it is time for more power. We are currently installing freshly ported Stage 2 Fox Lake heads, to replace the bottleneck that feeds this beast. New dyno numbers and track times coming late August 2008! Stay Tuned!
